The Cardiovascular Ultrasound Clinical Supervisor supervises the daily ECHO activities for the ECHO Department of assigned area and serves as a resource person for problem-solving. Ensures that all policies and protocols are written and followed to obtain and maintain ICAEL accreditation. Ensures that all testing within the Echo labs meet ICAEL guidelines and is within all expected standards. Works to maintain quality assurance within the laboratory as required by ICAEL guidelines. Ensures initial competence of all staff and maintains ongoing competence and peer review utilizing ICAEL standards. Performs direct patient cardiac diagnostic testing procedures in a timely and dependable manner, consistent with current standards of care and departmental and/or hospital policy and procedure. Serves as the professional and technical resource to physicians and patient care staff. Primary duties in ECHO include training, teaching, communication, and quality control. Provides adequate staffing for all areas of responsibility to meet patient care needs. Operates ECHO equipment to produce quality diagnostic images of anatomy.
Requires a graduate of an accredited Ultrasound program with an Associate’s degree. Must have at least two years of Cardiac Ultrasound experience. Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) OR Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) is required. Current BCLS certification is required. Basic keyboarding skills, Microsoft Office skills, ability to utilize order entry and knowledge of technical and system capabilities of available Cardiology IT systems is required.
Special Knowledge, Skills, and/or Abilities:
Basic understanding of cardiology billing and coding applications. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with physicians, IT systems analysts and IT vendors.
Knowledge of CMS regulations, Joint Commission and applicable diagnostic accreditation standards for ICAEL, and ICAVL.
Knowledge of cross sectional anatomy and strong communication skills.
Knowledgeable of all Medicare and Medicaid Billing requirements.
Prefer knowledge of sterile technique
Must be proficient in reading, writing, and speaking English
