Each member of our teams plays an important role in our mission. We are currently seeking a Cytogenetics to join our team.
As a cytogenetics technologist position you will be responsible for performing clinical laboratory testing in a manner that promotes accurate, timely results.
• Follow established procedures for all activities during the pre-analytical, analytical and post-analytical phases of patient testing. • Perform LIS functions necessary to complete patient testing and specimen processing. This includes ordering tests, ensuring accuracy of clinical data and releasing results to clients. • Follow established procedures to perform patient testing. Analyze and interpret test results. • Operate equipment, and perform and document routine maintenance. • Follow established quality control procedures for all tests. Identify unacceptable results and initiate the appropriate corrective action. • Accurately document patient test results, related patient information, QC activities, and corrective actions. • Promptly report problems that can negatively impact patient testing. • Culture cells of various types using appropriate culture media and techniques • Harvest cell cultures using appropriate techniques such as mitotic arrestants, cell releasing agents, cell fixatives, etc. • Prepare microscopic slides using routine and banding techniques. • Analyze chromosome preparations microscopically. Prepare several karyotypes per case. • Perform fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH) on cytogenetic preparations and paraffin embedded tissues. • Analyze FISH preparations microscopically, capture images and prepare reports.
Requirements: - 1 to 3 years of experience working in Cytogenetics. -Bachelor degree in Medical Technology or a life science or chemistry -Certification as CLSp or CG (ASCP) or equivalent is required.
