A post-doctoral position is available in the laboratory of M. Laura Feltri, in the Hunter James Kelly Research Institute at the State University of Buffalo, NY, to investigate the molecular basis of myelination, axonal support and myelin diseases. The successful applicant will have the opportunity to build on a line of research related to axon-glial interactions during development and in human diseases. They will help mentor trainees and provide input on existing projects. We use a combination of innovative sub-fractionation techniques, animal models and co-culture systems to study cell-cell communications, adhesion, mechano-transduction and mechanisms of axonal support in glia cells. This position is immediately available, is funded by the NIH for 3-4 years and comes with a competitive salary and full fringe benefits.

The ideal candidate will have a Ph.D or MD degree with a strong background in neuroscience, cell biology or a related field. Preferred technical qualifications include experience with mouse genetic models, primary neural cultures form rodents and humans, biochemistry, molecular and cellular biology.
