The Department of Radiology and Imaging Sciences at Emory University invites mid- to senior-level (Associate or Full Professor) radiochemists to apply for a tenured/tenure-track faculty position for the next Director of Tracer Development for the Emory Center for Systems Imaging (CSI). This is an opportunity to guide the planning of a state-of-the-art radiopharmaceutical facility expansion in a new research building under design (to be completed 2021). CSI is an integrated cross-disciplinary scientific, administrative, and educational home for imaging science, with a focus on neuroscience and oncology research. Partnerships exist with Georgia Institute of Technology, Children's Healthcare of Atlanta, Winship Cancer Institute, Marcus Autism Center, and industry partners within a collaborative environment.

This is an outstanding opportunity for an energetic scientist with interest in areas that complement and enhance the current research strengths of the Department (see http://www.radiology.emory.edu/research/). He/She will be expected to develop a novel research program that includes strong intradepartmental and interdepartmental collaboration, as well as education. Available resources include: cyclotron, radiopharmacy, preclinical and clinical PET and PET-CT imaging systems, and MRI scanners, and planned MR-PET. The Center for Systems Imaging (http://corelabs.emory.edu/csi/) includes research-dedicated laboratories, an institutional core facility (https://www.cores.emory.edu/csic/), and strong translational focus facilitated by a state-of-the-art clinical imaging department including an active Nuclear Medicine Division (see http://www.radiology.emory.edu/clinical-divisions/nuclear-medicine/index.html). Responsibilities may also include assisting with the introduction of new radiotracers into clinical use, as well as radiochemistry assistance with IND applications.
The qualified candidate should hold a PhD or MD-PhD in chemistry or related field, a strong publication record, demonstration of extramural research funding, as well as a strong commitment to education and mentoring the next generation of radiochemists and physician-scientists. Primary responsibilities will include research, including generation of extramural funding and publication in peer-reviewed journals, and facility and state-licensed Radiopharmacy Laboratory management. Previous leadership, managerial, and educational experience are preferred. Rank will be commensurate with experience.
